Get in on the 1920s Gatsby Trend!

I've always, absolutely, adored vintage fashion, particularly the embellished dresses, feathers, diamonds and pearls of the 1920s. When F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1920s novel, The Great Gatsby was revived by film producer Baz Luhrmann last year, it inspired a wave of roaring 20s themed parties, balls, and plenty of flapper style fashion. The catwalks and celebrities wardrobes were all influenced and now the high street is flooded with beautiful vintage dresses and accessories inspired by the Gatsby era.

Hosiery is no exception! With Essex'ee Legs stocking these gorgeous Jonathan Aston Faith Tights and Gipsy Fan Lace Tights, you can dress your pins vintage style, in these gorgeous 1920s fan patterned lace tights.

The Great Gatsby

The film itself produced lots of visually, breath taking scenes, and the stunning costumes certainly added to the magic. Carey Mulligan, as Daisy, sparkled in every shot, whether it be in a gorgeous print flapper dress and pretty silk headscarf, or bejewelled from, head to toe, in a beautifully luxe embellished dress and a magnificent diamond headband. You also couldn't miss the fishnets and silk top stockings being flashed by many of the flapper girls, dancing the Charleston, at one of Gatsby's wild parties.

The films costume and production designer, Catherine Martin commented-
"In the 1920s, hosiery was a very important part of a woman's wardrobe."

She sums up hosiery's role during this decade in fashion history, saying it was:
"...a tantalizing glimpse at what was under women's dresses."

So if you have your own Gatsby inspired event to attend, or any party for that matter, although Essex'ee Legs stock an array of gorgeous fishnet tights, stockings and seamed hosiery worthy of the original flapper girls pins, it's the lace pantyhose featured above that will add a modern edge to your vintage themed outfit. The gorgeous net hosiery both feature decedent fan patterns that is distinctive of 1920s fashion and will ensure that you stand out from the rest.
